With a conservative tide washing into Raleigh, this may be an untenable position:
Gov. Bev Perdue is raising a stronger possibility that her two-year budget proposal for North Carolina government could extend two temporary taxes approved in 2009 and set to expire this year.
Perdue told reporters Tuesday on the eve of the new General Assembly session that she didn’t know what she was going to do with the sales and income taxes. But she appeared to shift from earlier statements in September and December suggesting she was inclined to let them expire.
